White water rafting - thrilling, fast and exciting

Swimming in rapids in Zimbabwe can be a thrilling experience, but it can also be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken. The Zambezi River in particular is known for its powerful rapids and is a popular destination for white-water rafting. However, the river is also "Home" to crocodiles, which can be a significant danger.

Crocodiles are known to be present in many of the rivers in Zimbabwe, including the Zambezi, and can pose a significant risk to swimmers and rafters. They are known to be aggressive animals, and are capable of attacking humans. It is important to be aware of the presence of crocodiles and to take the necessary precautions when swimming or rafting in areas where they are present.

It is recommended to go with a reputable tour operator who is familiar with the area and can provide guidance on safety, and it's also important to adhere to safety guidelines when swimming or rafting in Zimbabwe. Such guidelines may include avoiding swimming or rafting in areas known to have high concentrations of crocodiles, staying in groups, and avoiding swimming or rafting at night.

It is important to also note that swimming in rapids can be a dangerous activity, even without the presence of crocodiles, as the currents can be powerful and unpredictable. It's important to be aware of your own swimming abilities and to not overestimate them. It is also recommended to have proper safety equipment and to wear life jackets or other flotation devices.

Having survived the rapids, you can then spend a little time enjoying the shona sculptures of sculptors such as Sampson Kuvenguhwa (Sam Kuve) or the wonderful paintings of Barry Lungu.  Not only do the sculptures and paintings represent the shona culture but show also the day to day life they will help you never to forget this wonderful country.
