Explore the animal world and combine it with Art in Zimbabwe
Taking a safari in Zimbabwe with local guides is the best way to see the animals of this wonderful country. The following is a non exhaustive list of the animals that you may see, depending on location and the season. The animals are a big inspiration to the sculptors in Zimbabwe and we have linked the animals that Mapiti has collected to the different animals. First we include lists of the different animals and insects you might see. It is worth while to let your guides explain about even the smallest of insects so that you can better understand the savannah in Zimbabwe.
The ''Big 5'' - a big influence on sculptors and the fine arts
The "Big 5" is a term used in African wildlife conservation to refer to five of the most iconic and difficult to hunt animals in Africa: the African Elephant, African Lion, African Leopard, African Buffalo, and Rhinoceros. The term was originally used by hunters, but has since been adopted by conservationists and wildlife enthusiasts to refer to these species, which are all considered to be threatened or endangered. The "Big 5" has become a symbol of African wildlife and a popular target for wildlife photographers and safari-goers.
Other animals - These animals also inspire sculptors and the fine arts in ZImbabwe
